GitHub
🏆️ Python has overtaken JavaScript on GitHub

In 2024, Python overtook JavaScript as the most popular language on GitHub, while Jupyter Notebooks skyrocketed—both of which underscore the surge in data science and machine learning on GitHub.

Insights for you:

  • According to GitHub’s Octoverse 2024 report, Python has become the most popular programming language on GitHub.

  • The growth in Python usage coincides with open source activity continuing to extend beyond traditional software development, GitHub said.

  • Along with increased Python adoption, GitHub also sees increased interest in AI agents and smaller models requiring less computational power.

Augment Your Sales Team With AI Agent Frank

Hire Agent Frank to join your sales team and let him take care of prospecting, emailing and booking meetings for you, so your team can focus on closing deals!

Agent Frank works in two modes - fully autonomous Auto-pilot and Co-pilot, where you can review and monitor his work. And he’s super easy to set up in just 4 quick steps!

He learns using first-party data you provide him during onboarding and continuously gets better as he works to book you more meetings 🚀

Anthropic
🧠 Anthropic releases Smarter Claude Haiku and Sonnet model

Anthropic presents improved versions of its AI models Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Claude 3.5 Haiku. Both models achieved significant performance improvements, particularly in programming tasks.

Insights for you:

  • The new Claude 3.5 Haiku model is expected to outperform the previous top-of-the-line Claude 3 Opus model in many intelligence benchmarks, at the same cost and speed as its predecessor, Claude 3 Haiku.

  • Anthropic introduces a new feature for AI-driven computing. An API enables Claude to perceive computer surfaces, interact with them, and translate instructions into concrete computer commands.

  • The updated Claude 3.5 Sonnet shows significant improvements in programming tasks. Its performance on the SWE Bench Verified Test increased from 33.4% to 49.0%, which Anthropic claims outperforms all publicly available models, including specialized programming systems.

Google
🏠️ Google Integrates Smart Home Controls into Gemini

Gemini has introduced new capabilities for controlling smart home accessories through Google Home integration. This latest development by Google enhances the functionality of Gemini, making it even easier for users to manage their connected devices.

Insights for you:

  • Google is adding a Google Home extension to the Gemini app, allowing you to control your smart home while chatting with the AI assistant.

  • This integration supports natural-language control, simplifying the interaction between users and their devices by allowing them to use everyday language for commands.

  • However, the extension can’t perform some actions on security devices, like gates, cameras, locks, doors, and garage doors.

AI Research
🔮 A new AI web navigation system uses world models to predict outcomes

Researchers at Korea's Yonsei University have created a new AI system that tests actions before executing them on websites. The approach shows better results than previous methods at helping AI navigate the web.

Insights for you:

  • Researchers at Yonsei University have developed a new AI-based web navigation method that uses "world models" to simulate action sequences and determine the best action strategies.

  • The system gathers interaction data, analyzes website state changes using the Hungarian algorithm, and translates it into natural language descriptions. The trained world model can then predict action outcomes and choose the optimal action.

  • In the WebArena benchmark, the system achieved a 16.6% success rate, with performance varying by application area.
