💡 Meta’s LLM Compiler Is Here To Revolutionize Coding Forever

Meta recently announced the Meta Large Language Model (LLM) Compiler, a collection of models with extra code optimization and compiler features based on Meta Code Llama.

Insights for you:

  • The Meta Large Language Model (LLM) Compiler is a set of strong, open-source models that Meta has released to revolutionize compiler design and code optimization.

  • There are two model sizes available: 7B and 13B parameters. The LLM Compiler models are trained on an additional 546B tokens of data, primarily consisting of assembly code and compiler intermediate representations

  • All the model weights are available on Hugging Face.

GOOGLE
⚡️ Google Introducing their ‘Recall’ Feature with Pixel Screenshots

Via Android Authority, Google is working on adding several new AI features to the Google Pixel 9, one of which is called Pixel Screenshots. Pixel Screenshots enables users to browse through their screenshots by saving and processing helpful details.

Insights for you:

  • It has been reported that Google is bringing several AI features to the Google Pixel 9 device including Pixel Screenshots.

  • Pixel Screenshots is very similar to the Microsoft Recall feature but with more privacy.

  • Other features include Add Me and Studio, with highly powerful image editing and generation capabilities.

Google’s Gemma 2 Is Now Available For Both Research And Development

Google has released Gemma 2, the latest iteration of its open lightweight AI model series, along with significant enhancements to its Gemini 1.5 Pro model, such as improved coding capabilities and a 2M token context window.

Insights for you:

  • Gemma 2, which comes in parameter sizes of 9 billion (9B) and 27 billion (27B), outperforms the first generation in terms of performance and efficiency at inference and has notable improvements in safety.

  • With its ability to operate inference effectively and precisely on a single Google Cloud TPU host, NVIDIA A100 80GB Tensor Core GPU, or NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU, the 27B Gemma 2 model offers a cost-effective solution that doesn't sacrifice performance.

  • Developers and researchers can share and profit from their inventions with Gemma 2 because it is offered under the commercially friendly Gemma license.

APPLE
🧐 Apple Rejects Meta AI’s Chatbot Deal

Days after a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) story claimed that Apple and Meta were in talks about integrating Meta's AI models, a new report from news agency Bloomberg claims that Apple has no plans to work with Facebook on this project due to privacy concerns.

Insights for you:

  • Apple and Meta reportedly had a quick conversation in March over a potential collaboration, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

  • "Discussions about a potential partnership did not reach a formal stage and Apple was not actively planning on integrating Llama into iPhones, because it does not consider Instagram owner Meta's privacy practices stringent enough," the Bloomberg report stated.

  • The story went on to say that since Apple has regularly criticized Meta's privacy policies, cooperating with the social networking platform might damage Apple's brand.

OPENAI
OpenAI’s ChatGPT’s Voice Mode Feature Launch is Paused for the while

Due to additional safety testing and improvements, OpenAI has stated that it will delay the release of ChatGPT's highly anticipated Voice Mode functionality, which was shown in May.

Insights for you:

  • Before the May Spring Update, OpenAI had said that the Voice Mode would launch "a few weeks" later. As of right now, premium customers should have access by the fall.

  • Originally scheduled for late June, the Alpha test group has been rescheduled by one month to accommodate additional safety inspections.

  • In addition to focusing on enhancing the user experience and setting up the system to scale to millions of users while maintaining real-time replies, they are improving the model's capacity to identify and reject specific types of content.
