OpenAI
⛔️ OpenAI’s Sora Stuck Because of Hollywood

While many video editors are now publicly available, OpenAI has been struggling with the release of its SORA model. Now, we know why. They are talking with Entertainment industry partners and policymakers. Via CNBC, the company said: “It’s [SORA] still in research mode due to conversations with policymakers.”.

Reflection AI
💪 Reflection 70B is the world’s top open-source model

OthersideAI’s founder Matt Shumer revealed Reflection 70B and calls it the most capable open-source model today. They are using “reflection tuning” that is said to cause fewer hallucinations. The model outperforms GPT-4o on several benchmarks, including MMLU and GSM8K.

Insights for you:

  • Reflection 70B is a new LLM based on Llama 3.

  • The model was trained using Reflection-Tuning, a technique developed to enable LLMs to fix their own mistakes.

  • The startup is also working on Reflection405B very soon.

Google
🔍️ Early Access Started for Google’s ‘Ask Photos’ AI assistant

While Google Photos already has a sophisticated search feature, now they are making it more powerful with AI. Ask Photos' AI Assistant can understand the images on a whole new level. You can ask it questions like “Where did we camp last time we went to Yosemite?” or “Top 10 things we saw in Idaho”.

Insights for you:

  • Google is rolling out early access for Ask Photos, powered by Gemini, to select users in the U.S.

  • Ask Photos can understand the context of your photo gallery to pull out relevant details from the content of the images.

  • One of the interesting use cases is to ask it to curate the best photos to share with family or friends. It will suggest top pictures with personalized caption as well.
