Google
⚡️ Google Search got an AI Mode

In simple language, Google has added an AI chatbot to its existing AI Overview. They launched this AI Mode because their “power users” wanted more AI responses in their Search. Users can access it through the “AI Mode” tab added below the search bar on Google, or you can directly try it at google.com/aimode.

Insights for you:

  • Google AI Mode enables AI-generated answers in the Search, with a conversational interface for follow-up questions.

  • According to Google, the technology combines Gemini 2.0’s agentic capabilities with Google’s information systems such as the Knowledge Graph, and real-time data to create the answers.

  • But you must pay for it as they are currently rolling out AI Mode for their Google One AI Premium subscribers in the USA only.

Opera
🌐 Opera’s Browser Operator can Do Shopping for You

Opera’s Browser Operator is a go-to assistant to do all online tasks, including shopping for shoes or booking football tickets. By automating routine tasks, it allows users to focus on more meaningful activities, redefining the role of web browsers in our lives.

Insights for you:

  • The Browser Operator is an AI agent integrated into the Opera browser that can perform tasks on your behalf.

  • Opera claims that the agent is more secure because it works natively on your device and nothing will be sent to their servers.

  • OpenAI has already launched a similar product with the same name (Operator) and there are many free alternatives available as well.

Alibaba
💪 Alibaba’s QwQ-32B Model is as Good as DeepSeek-R1

Alibaba's QwQ-32B demonstrates how reinforcement learning can create efficient systems that match the capabilities of much larger models. Alibaba has released QwQ-32B under the Apache 2.0 license as an open-weight model on Hugging Face and ModelScope.

Insights for you:

  • Alibaba has introduced QwQ-32B, a highly capable AI model that achieves performance comparable to significantly larger models on various benchmarks, including mathematical reasoning, programming, and general problem-solving, despite having only 32 billion parameters.

  • QwQ-32B has been optimized using reinforcement learning techniques, similar to other reasoning models developed by companies like Deepseek and OpenAI.

  • The model is trained on generated thought chains that have successfully led to correct solutions.
