👨🎓 PhD-level AI Super-Agents from OpenAI Coming Soon
According to an Axios report, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will meet with U.S. government officials on January 30 to showcase significant advances in AI technology. Sources from the U.S. government and leading AI companies say the industry has moved faster than expected in recent months.
Insights for you:
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is set to brief U.S. government officials at the end of January. The presentation will reportedly feature "Ph. D.-level super agents."
These AI super agents can tackle complex problems with the expertise of a doctoral graduate. They can synthesize massive amounts of information, analyze options, and deliver products.
Altman also plans to discuss the potential impact of AI on economic growth at the meeting, based on the Economic Blueprint they released last week.

⚡️ Microsoft debuts AI search for Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft has introduced an AI search experience for Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs. It leverages semantic indexing to enable natural language search capabilities, allowing users to find files and photos without the need to recall the filenames. For example, users can search for images by describing them like “bridge at sunset".
Insights for you:
Microsoft is testing an AI-powered search feature for Windows 11, allowing semantic indexing to let users search for local files using more casual language.
The feature applies whether you’re using search boxes in Settings, File Explorer, or the taskbar, without the need to be connected to the internet.
AI Search is now available in a new developer channel built for Windows 11 Insider testers.
Snap
📱 Snap launches SnapGen AI to Create High-Res Images on Mobile
A team of researchers, including some from Snap Inc., the company behind Snapchat, has developed an AI image generator for phones. Their new system, called SnapGen, can create high-resolution images in just seconds.
Insights for you:
Snap Inc. researchers have created SnapGen, an AI image generator capable of producing high-resolution images directly on high-end mobile phones.
Despite having only 379 million parameters, making it approximately seven times smaller than well-known systems like SDXL, SnapGen surpasses them in image quality and generation speed, taking just 1.4 seconds to create a 1024×1024 pixel image on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Significant efficiency gains were achieved by thoroughly redesigning the neural network architecture, removing unnecessary computations, and extensively optimizing the decoder responsible for converting the AI output into final images.
