🔘 Google Search will have AI Mode soon to battle ChatGPT

According to a report from The Information, Google plans to add a new “AI Mode” to its search engine. This AI mode presumably lets users build context and refine their search queries with follow-up responses. By integrating AI capabilities directly into its main search interface, Google aims to keep users within its ecosystem rather than losing them to competing services.

Insights for you:

  • Google plans to add an "AI mode" button to its search interface. This button will let users choose between traditional link-based results and AI-powered responses similar to its Gemini chatbot.

  • The new AI button would sit alongside existing search filters for images, news, and videos.

  • Along with text-based interaction, the AI Mode will also support voice queries.

🎶 Adobe's new AI tool lets you create audio by humming sounds

Adobe Research and Northwestern University have developed Sketch2Sound, an AI system that turns vocal imitations and text descriptions into professional sound effects and atmospheres.

Insights for you:

  • Adobe Research and Northwestern University have developed an AI system called "Sketch2Sound" that assists sound designers in creating sounds using vocal imitations and text descriptions.

  • The AI analyzes the volume, timbre, and pitch of the vocal imitation and combines this information with text instructions to generate the desired sound, understanding the intention behind the imitation.

  • Sketch2Sound could be particularly useful for Foley artists who specialize in creating sounds for film and television productions.

🖐️ Study: Claude AI cooperates better than OpenAI and Google models

The research team tested different AI models using a classic "donor game" in which AI agents could share and benefit from resources over multiple generations. Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet emerged as the clear winner, consistently developing stable cooperation patterns that led to higher overall resource gains.

Insights for you:

  • Researchers have tested the cooperative abilities of different AI language models by having them share resources in a classic cooperation game over multiple generations.

  • The results showed significant differences between the models: Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet developed stable cooperation patterns and achieved high total resources.

  • In contrast, Google's Gemini 1.5 Flash and OpenAI's GPT-4o showed weak cooperation or blocked each other.
