OpenAI
🤙 Call ChatGPT for Help Anytime without the Internet

Instead of merely being a chatbot that requires the internet, users may now have ChatGPT as their personal phone pal without cellular data or Wi-Fi. Callers use Advanced Voice Mode technology by dialing 1-800-CHATGPT to engage with a voice-only version of the platform.

Insights for you:

  • U.S. and Canada-based users can call 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478) to ask ChatGPT anything you want anytime. International users can message ChatGPT using WhatsApp.

  • However, anyone who wants to call ChatGPT can only do so for 15 minutes a month. WhatsApp also has a daily limit.

  • OpenAI explained that the feature is ideal for those without consistent data connections. Also, it enhances accessibility and engagement, providing users with real-time assistance on various topics.

👊 Qwen's new QVQ Model competes with OpenAI in visual reasoning

Alibaba's AI research team Qwen has unveiled QVQ-72B-Preview, a new open-source model that can analyze images and draw conclusions from them. While it's still in the experimental phase, early tests show it's particularly good at visual reasoning tasks.

Insights for you:

  • Alibaba's Qwen research team has released QVQ-72B-Preview, an open-source language model capable of analyzing visual information and drawing complex conclusions from images and instructions.

  • The model solves problems by thinking through them step by step, similar to what we know from other so-called reasoning models like OpenAI's o1 or Google's Flash Thinking.

  • In these tests, QVQ performed reached similar levels of accuracy as closed-source models like OpenAI's o1 and Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

⚽️ New AI recognizes soccer fouls and provides commentary

A new AI system can now watch soccer games, identify key plays, and even provide commentary similar to that of a human announcer. MatchVision achieves a recognition accuracy of up to 84%, surpassing previous systems.

Insights for you:

  • Researchers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Alibaba have created "SoccerReplay-1988," the largest dataset for AI-based soccer analysis.

  • It contains nearly 2,000 complete matches and over 3,300 hours of video footage from major European leagues and the Champions League.

  • Based on this dataset, the researchers developed the MatchVision" AI system, which is capable of recognizing 24 different match events, automatically commenting on them, and assessing the severity of fouls by evaluating video footage from different camera angles.
